Bluegrass Lyrics Writing Workshop
featuring Dennis Goodwin

Time: Saturday November 8 at 2:00pm   Price: $5

Dennis Goodwin’s workshop focuses on a number of bluegrass lyric-writing “tricks of the trade” that can bring your “song stories” to life. He will help you paint your lyrics with vivid metaphors, colorful sensory-triggers, lively word-play, specific nouns, action-verbs and other lively writing techniques - as he plays recorded samples of each technique. He also offers an accompanying booklet at a nominal price. Through the years, Dennis has written numerous magazine articles and booklets and has had several bluegrass lyrics recorded including “Handmade Nails and Homemade Love,” “Mountain Stone” and “Rockwell’s Gold.” "Bluegrass-lyric writing," he points out, "is still writing. Just because we may be writing about plow-mules or moon-shiners doesn't mean we might not need to polish up our writing skills. After all, we're writing with a pen or a pencil...or maybe even a word processor - not a hoe nor a shotgun."
